Chief Minister KP, Ali Amin Gandapur, Discusses Achievements and Challenges in Press Conference

Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur, held a press conference in Peshawar, where he highlighted the provincial government’s financial achievements and ongoing challenges. He stated that after taking office, the government has successfully paid off a loan of Rs. 50 billion and has allocated Rs. 30 billion to the Endowment Fund, with plans to increase it to Rs. 50 billion.
Gandapur emphasized that the government did not increase taxes to raise revenue, pointing out that the money was already available and questioned where it was being spent previously. He also mentioned that Rs. 20 billion had been distributed under the Ramadan package, scholarships had been doubled, and the dowry fund had been increased from Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 200,000.
The Chief Minister also announced plans to make all provincial institutions autonomous by December and mentioned that the province has significant mining resources. He invited anyone interested in debating his performance to come forward, adding that work had started on a hydroelectric project that had been ongoing since 2014. He also expressed gratitude to his cabinet members and the bureaucracy for their support.
Addressing security concerns, Gandapur acknowledged that one of the province’s major issues was maintaining peace and security, particularly in the context of terrorism. He pointed out that the situation had worsened due to the focus on eliminating one political party at the expense of addressing terrorism. He further stated that the KP and Balochistan situation was very different from that of Sindh and Punjab.
Gandapur also criticized the federal government for its ineptitude, which he claimed contributed to the current security situation. He added that the superpowers had been defeated on the borders of KP, and emphasized that negotiations are the way forward to resolve conflicts. He revealed that the provincial government had invited stakeholders to discuss the situation, but the federal government had not provided the Terms of Reference (TORs) after two months.
He concluded by stating that KP’s police were actively combating terrorism and securing the province despite these challenges.
