BSO Announces Seminar in Gwadar to Commemorate Martyrs of Jiwani on 21st February

Turbat:The spokesperson for the Baloch Students Organization (BSO) has announced that a seminar will be held in Jiwani on February 21 to mark the anniversary of the martyrdom of Yasmeen, Ghulam Nabi, and Azgal, who were killed in a tragic incident in 1987.
The spokesperson stated that the memories of the tragic deaths of Yasmeen, Ghulam Nabi, and Azgal are still etched in the hearts of the Baloch people. On February 21, 1987, a peaceful protest rally for water supply in Jiwani was met with indiscriminate firing by security forces, resulting in the deaths of the three Baloch activists, while dozens of others were wounded.
“This day serves as a reminder of one of the worst tragedies in our history, where people were shot simply for demanding water,” the spokesperson said, adding that the incident exemplifies the systemic violations of social, political, and human rights in Balochistan.
Despite 37 years having passed since the incident, Jiwani, like many other areas in Balochistan, still remains deprived of clean drinking water, reflecting the continued neglect of basic needs by the authorities.
In keeping with the BSO’s organizational traditions, the spokesperson confirmed that a commemoration event will take place in Jiwani this year to pay tribute to the martyrs of Jiwani. The event aims to honor their sacrifices and raise awareness about the ongoing struggles for basic rights in the region.
