Actor Kashif Mehmood Reveals He Was Imprisoned for Political Activism
Islamabad:Renowned television actor Kashif Mehmood recently revealed that he was once imprisoned due to his involvement in political activities. Speaking on the popular TV show *Hansna Mana Hai* hosted by Tabish Hashmi, Kashif shared details about his arrest and its impact on his career.
During the conversation, Tabish asked Kashif whether his outspoken views on politics had ever affected his acting career. In response, the actor shared a surprising anecdote, stating that he had been chanting political slogans of “Go, Go” when the police intervened and arrested him. He went on to explain that fellow actor Sohail Ahmed came to his rescue and managed to get him released from police custody.
Kashif Mehmood also revealed that despite his arrest, the police treated him well. He mentioned that once he was taken to jail, the conditions were not ideal, with an abundance of mosquitoes. To his surprise, an inspector took the initiative and spent 1,000 rupees from his own pocket to install a mosquito net in Kashif’s cell to ensure his comfort.
The actor also reflected on the struggles he faced throughout his career, emphasizing that he did not achieve overnight fame. In an earlier interview, Kashif recalled how he spent many years playing minor roles before finally landing a major hit drama. However, he shared his frustration when, despite the show’s success, one TV channel refused to pay him his due compensation.
