Jayati Bhatia Reveals Why Dipika Kakar Accepted Islam Before Marriage
MUMBAI: Indian actress Jayati Bhatia has addressed long-standing speculation surrounding actress Dipika Kakar’s decision to accept Islam, saying that the decision was entirely personal and had no connection with her marriage to Shoaib Ibrahim.
In a recent interview, Jayati said Dipika had personally told her that she accepted Islam out of her own spiritual choice rather than because of her marriage in 2018.
According to Jayati, Dipika was going through a difficult phase in her life when she visited the Ajmer Sharif shrine. She reportedly found peace and emotional strength there and later decided, of her own free will, to embrace Islam.
Jayati rejected the impression that Dipika had adopted her husband’s religion because of their marriage. She said Dipika had made it clear to her that the decision was not taken under any pressure but was based on her personal choice and beliefs.
Talking about Dipika and Shoaib’s relationship, Jayati said the couple had consistently supported each other through difficult times. She particularly highlighted Shoaib’s support for Dipika after she was diagnosed with cancer in 2025, saying he remained by her side throughout her treatment.
She added that Dipika had also been a strong source of support for Shoaib and his family for years, reflecting the mutual trust and understanding between the couple.
Dipika Kakar and Shoaib Ibrahim married in 2018 after meeting while working together on the Indian television drama Sasural Simar Ka. The couple have a three-year-old son, Ruhaan.
