Government’s ‘Football Team’ Has Already Been Shown a Yellow Card, Now It Should Wait for Red Card: Muhammad Ali Durrani

ISLAMABAD: Former federal minister Muhammad Ali Durrani has said that the government’s “football team” has already been shown a yellow card and should now wait for the red card.

In an exclusive interview with ARY News, Durrani commented on the Supreme Court’s order regarding the transfer of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan to a hospital, saying he had a personal role in the settlement concerning the PTI founder.

Criticising the government, the former federal minister said rulers become increasingly restless when their control over circumstances weakens and they feel that authority is slipping from their hands.

Durrani alleged that the government had repeatedly blamed state institutions for its actions and alleged excesses under the name of a “hybrid system”, attempting to create the impression that institutions were responsible for what was happening.

He said the confrontation between the public and the establishment, which he claimed had been created by the government, would now begin to decrease, while the negative perception allegedly created by the rulers would also fade.

The former minister said that whenever the public and the establishment moved closer to each other, “hybrid rulers” started making noise, which he described as nothing more than their own folly.

Durrani also criticised the ruling leadership, saying that those in power had themselves travelled abroad for medical treatment while maintaining different standards for others.

He warned the government that its “football team” had already received a yellow card and should now wait for the red card.
