Details of Pakistani Prisoners in UAE Jails Revealed
Islamabad: New details have emerged regarding Pakistani citizens imprisoned in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). According to documents from the Pakistani embassy, there are currently 5,292 Pakistanis incarcerated in various UAE prisons for different crimes.
The documents reveal that 2,470 Pakistani nationals are in jail for drug-related offenses. Additionally, 1,771 Pakistanis are imprisoned for a range of other crimes, with 704 individuals detained for theft-related offenses.
Further details show that 52 Pakistanis are incarcerated for illegal entry into the UAE, while 171 are detained for illegal residency. Other offenses include 69 individuals in prison for robbery, 147 for murder, 36 for fraud, 32 for currency counterfeiting, 21 for kidnapping, and 53 for sexual harassment.
The documents also come in the wake of the recent suspension of UAE visas for Pakistanis, with authorities citing complaints of Pakistani citizens engaging in politics, protests, and criticizing UAE government policies on social media.
