Pakistan, Somalia Agree to Strengthen Defence Cooperation

Rawalpindi: Pakistan and Somalia have agreed to further enhance bilateral defence cooperation following a high-level meeting between Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and a Somali delegation led by Defence Minister Ambassador Ahmed Moallim Fiqi.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the meeting was held at the General Headquarters (GHQ), where both sides discussed ways to strengthen defence ties, address regional security challenges, and expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The discussions focused on the regional security environment, bilateral defence relations, and measures to deepen security collaboration between the two countries.

Both sides emphasized the importance of enhancing military-to-military engagement, expanding training cooperation, and strengthening institutional capacity to effectively respond to shared security challenges.

The two delegations reaffirmed their commitment to further reinforcing cooperation in tackling common security threats and promoting long-term defence partnership.

Somalia’s Defence Minister praised Pakistan’s continued support for regional peace and stability and commended the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces.

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting the capacity-building of Somalia’s security institutions and expressed Pakistan’s resolve to continue contributing to lasting peace and stability in the region.
