Atta Tarar Rejects PPP Allegations, Says PML-N’s AJK Election Victory Is Hard for Opponents to Accept
Islamabad: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has rejected the allegations made by Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, saying the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)’s victory in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) elections is difficult for its opponents to accept.
Responding to Sharjeel Memon’s press conference, Tarar said the PML-N emerged as the leading party in the second phase of the AJK elections and has secured a simple majority to form the next government.
He said the party’s success reflected the confidence of the people and that the election results should be accepted by all political stakeholders.
The Information Minister stated that voters actively participated in the electoral process and based their decision on the PML-N’s record of development and public service.
Tarar also praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for congratulating the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on its success in the Gilgit-Baltistan elections, saying it set a positive democratic tradition. He urged political parties to demonstrate tolerance, patience, and democratic values.
Referring to Sharjeel Memon’s allegations, Tarar described them as baseless and called on those making accusations to present evidence in support of their claims.
He added that political disagreements are a normal part of democracy but emphasized that the PML-N’s victory in the AJK elections should be acknowledged. Tarar also said the party’s leadership has consistently prioritized the development and welfare of Azad Kashmir.
