UAE announces new work visa policy for Pakistani workers
ISLAMABAD: United Arab Emirates (UAE) now requires a police character certificate(PCC) as a mandatory document for all Pakistani Citizens who are planning to get employed in this Gulf country.
According to reports published on BEOE, the new policy has come into force since 20th July 2026. According to them, every Pakistani national applying for an employment Visa will need to go through these procedures.
Firstly, you need to apply for a good conduct/police character certificate from your respective authorities and have an attestation of that certificate at the embassy of the UAE in Pakistan before submitting the visa application.
“We have advised all prospective workers to get hold of the necessary certificate before filling up their visa application form as this will ensure there are no delay/rejection/complication in further processing,” she added.
This move comes amid efforts by the UAE to bolster its processes around background verification of foreign workers ahead of enhancing security screenings while issuing work-related visas — similar steps are also being taken for employment visas across many other nations too.
As the UAE continues to remain among the biggest overseas employment destinations for Pakistanis, over 1.7 million Pakistani expatriates can be found in the Emirates at large today.
Every year, thousands of Pakistanis flock here seeking jobs across construction, hospitality, healthcare, retail, transport and many other industries.
They urged job seekers to make use of only licensed overseas employment promoters and complete all necessary documents, such as the newly mandated Police Character Certificate, prior to embarking on the visa process.
