Washington:Differences have emerged between senior U.S. military and political leaders over the strategy for the ongoing military campaign against Iran, according to American media reports.

Reports indicate that senior officials at the White House and the Pentagon are divided over how far the United States should expand its military operations against Iran.

According to a U.S. newspaper, **Admiral Brad Cooper**, commander of the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), supports a large-scale air campaign against Iran. The proposed plan reportedly calls for airstrikes to continue for nearly two weeks in an effort to further degrade Iran’s military capabilities.

In contrast, **General Dan Caine**, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and U.S. Defense Secretary **Pete Hegseth** are said to favor a more cautious approach.

According to the reports, both officials believe the United States should preserve its air defense systems, particularly interceptor missiles and other critical weapons stockpiles, to ensure readiness for any future large-scale threats.

Sources said the strategic disagreements will require President **Donald Trump** to decide whether to maintain the current level of military operations against Iran or authorize a broader campaign.

The reports come a day after President Trump signaled a strong response following Iran’s missile attack on a U.S. military base in Jordan.

In an interview with a U.S. television network, Trump claimed that Iran had launched a surprise missile attack on the American base in Jordan, but said U.S. air defense systems intercepted and destroyed the incoming missiles within minutes.

Trump added that the United States would take all necessary measures to protect its forces and national interests and vowed to deliver an “extremely strong response” to Iran’s actions.
