Balochistan Police Arrest 107 Suspects, Seize Large Cache of Weapons in Three-Week Crackdown
QUETTA: Balochistan Police have arrested 107 suspects and recovered a large cache of illegal weapons during a three-week province-wide crackdown targeting proclaimed offenders, absconders, and criminal elements, according to an official press release issued by the police spokesperson.
The spokesperson said the special campaign is being carried out on the instructions of Inspector General of Police Balochistan, Muhammad Tahir, across all seven police ranges, including Quetta, under a zero-tolerance policy against crime to ensure the safety and security of law-abiding citizens.
During the operation, police recovered 83 revolvers and pistols, seven Kalashnikov rifles, nine shotguns and rifles, 550 rounds of ammunition, and 57 magazines from the arrested suspects.
In separate anti-narcotics operations, police arrested 133 suspected drug traffickers and seized 305.831 kilograms of hashish, 9.370 kilograms of crystal meth (Ice), 1.2 kilograms of opium, 45 grams of crystal, 230 grams of heroin, and 52 bottles of liquor.
According to the statement, police also apprehended 56 proclaimed offenders, 249 absconders, and 369 suspects allegedly involved in various criminal activities during the campaign. In addition, 11 kidnapped persons were safely recovered.
The operations also led to the recovery of seven stolen vehicles, 25 motorcycles, and eight mobile phones. Police further recovered Rs3,000 in stolen cash, 2.25 grams of gold, 50 cartons of Iranian cigarettes, and 96,672 packets of gutka.
The spokesperson said three vehicles and four motorcycles were taken into custody for violations of relevant legal provisions, while 2,701 vehicles had their tinted windows removed as part of traffic and security enforcement measures.
Police have also directed officers to maintain courteous and respectful behavior toward the public, ensure prompt resolution of complaints at police stations, and provide transparent handling of public grievances.
The spokesperson added that Balochistan Police are continuing to share criminal records and data with police departments in other provinces to help identify suspects, prevent criminals from moving freely across provincial boundaries, and strengthen coordinated law enforcement efforts.
The statement reaffirmed that operations against criminal elements will continue without interruption to maintain law and order and provide a safe and secure environment for the people of Balochistan.
