NADRA Rejects Claims of Mass CNIC Blocking in Quetta

Islamabad/Quetta: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has dismissed social media claims that the Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) of half of Quetta’s population have been blocked, calling the reports false and misleading.

In a statement, NADRA clarified that it does not block citizens’ identity cards collectively or without valid legal grounds. The authority said each case is handled individually in accordance with the law and established procedures.

According to NADRA, if credible evidence reveals discrepancies related to a person’s citizenship, identity, or family registration records, the matter is reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Affected individuals are given a full opportunity to present their position and submit relevant documents before any decision is made.

NADRA emphasized that all actions are taken only after completing the required legal process and in line with applicable regulations.

The authority also urged the public not to believe unverified information circulating on social media and advised citizens to rely only on NADRA’s official communication channels for information regarding CNIC-related matters.
