Headline: 60% of Medicine Budget Unused as Fiscal Year Nears End, Claims Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party

Quetta: The Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party (PkNAP) has strongly criticized the provincial health department for failing to utilize nearly 60% of the allocated medicine budget for the ongoing fiscal year 2024–25. In a press release issued on Thursday, the party condemned the continued unavailability of essential medicines in district and tehsil hospitals, as well as rural dispensaries across the province.
PkNAP stated that despite district health departments having submitted their medicine demands long ago, the supplies have not been delivered, leaving poor and vulnerable populations to suffer. The party labeled the inaction as a blatant example of the so-called provincial government’s anti-people policies and administrative failure.
The statement urged the Chief Minister and Chief Secretary to take immediate notice of the situation and match their claims with action. The party also demanded that from the next financial year onward, funds and authority for medicine procurement and distribution should be directly allocated to district health officers and local health committees to ensure timely and need-based medical supplies.
