Floodwaters Damage Railway Bridge, Suspend Lahore–Faisalabad Train Operations; Routes Diverted

LAHORE: Train operations on the Lahore–Faisalabad railway section have been temporarily suspended after heavy rains and floodwaters damaged a railway bridge near Qila Sattar Shah. Pakistan Railways has also diverted the routes of several trains and temporarily cancelled others.

According to railway officials, severe rainfall and flooding between Qila Sheikhupura and Massan affected railway infrastructure, prompting the suspension of train services on the Lahore–Faisalabad section as a precautionary measure.

The Divisional Transport Officer of the Lahore Railway Division said that the 41-Up/42-Down Karakoram Express and the 27-Up/28-Down Shalimar Express will now operate from Lahore to their destinations via Raiwind, Sahiwal, and Khanewal instead of passing through Faisalabad.

Passengers booked on the 42-Down Karakoram Express from Faisalabad will be accommodated on the 18-Down Millat Express today.

Meanwhile, the Mianwali Express, which operates between Lahore and Sargodha, will run via Wazirabad and Lala Musa for the day.

Pakistan Railways has also temporarily cancelled the 111-Up/112-Down Badr Express and the 113-Up/114-Down Ghouri Express due to the disruption.

Railway authorities stated that repair work on the damaged bridge and affected railway tracks is currently underway. Train services will resume once the infrastructure has been fully restored and declared safe for operations.

Passengers have been advised to check the latest status of their respective trains before traveling. Pakistan Railways said it is closely monitoring the situation and will continue to provide timely updates to the public.
