Hodge’s Unbeaten 83 Guides West Indies to 194/3 on Day One Against Pakistan

TAROUBA:** An unbeaten 83-run knock by Kevlon Hodge helped the West Indies reach **194/3 at stumps** on the opening day of the first Test against Pakistan, with fast bowler Mohammad Abbas claiming two wickets.

After winning the toss at the **Brian Lara Cricket Academy** in Tarouba, the West Indies elected to bat first. Rain disrupted play during the opening session, allowing only 14.1 overs to be bowled before lunch, with the hosts reaching 23/1.

Brandon King was the first wicket to fall, dismissed by Mohammad Abbas for 12.

Play resumed around 30 minutes after the lunch interval, and opener Tagenarine Chanderpaul added 51 runs for the second wicket with Hodge before being dismissed for 21. Amir Jangoo then contributed 21 runs in a 42-run partnership with Hodge before becoming Abbas’ second victim of the innings.

Hodge and captain Shai Hope steadied the innings with an unbeaten 88-run stand for the fourth wicket, taking the West Indies to 194/3 by the close of play. Hodge remained unbeaten on 83 after completing his half-century, while Hope was not out on 39.

For Pakistan, Mohammad Abbas was the pick of the bowlers with **2 wickets**, while Aamer Jamal claimed one dismissal.

The match also marked the Test debut of **33-year-old left-arm spinner Ali Usman** for Pakistan.
