Fawad Chaudhry Criticizes Punjab Government Over Electric Buses Sent to AJK
Lahore: Former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry has criticized the Punjab government over the dispatch of 10 electric buses to Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), alleging that public funds are being used for electoral purposes.
Reacting to the initiative announced by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Fawad Chaudhry said Punjab’s resources were being spent as though they were personal assets, claiming the funds were being used to influence elections. He called for accountability of those responsible.

His remarks came in response to a social media post by PML-N leader Hina Parvez Butt, who wrote that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz had fulfilled her promise by sending 10 electric buses to AJK. The buses reportedly arrived in Murree and were scheduled to depart for Muzaffarabad.
Journalist Rauf Klasra also commented on the development, noting on social media that while 10 electric buses had been sent to Kashmir, nine senior administrative positions from the South Punjab Secretariat in Multan had been shifted to Lahore.

Earlier, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz had announced that, if the Pakistan Muslim League (N) secured victory in the Azad Kashmir elections, her government would provide modern transport, healthcare, and welfare facilities to the region. As part of that commitment, she pledged to gift 10 electric buses to the people of Mirpur.
In a recent address, without naming PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Maryam Nawaz criticized political opponents, saying that some leaders claim credit when forming governments but shift responsibility to the federal government when it comes to resolving public issues. She also said that many of the roads used by people today were constructed during the tenure of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
