JI Balochistan Chief Hidayat Ur Rehman Calls for Reopening Border Crossings and Expanding Regional Trade

Quetta: Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan chief and Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) Maulana Hidayat Ur Rehman Baloch has called for the immediate reopening of border crossings in Chaman and other parts of Balochistan to facilitate legal trade and cross-border movement between Pakistan and neighboring countries.

Speaking during meetings with local delegations on a visit to Chaman, Hidayat Ur Rehman said that border closures were affecting livelihoods and urged the government to restore legal trade and public movement without delay.

He also stressed the importance of promoting sports and healthy activities for the province’s youth, calling on the government to provide sports grounds, facilities, and incentives to help protect young people from drug abuse and encourage healthy lifestyles.

The Jamaat-e-Islami leader alleged that public confidence in the Frontier Corps (FC) had declined due to alleged extortion, failure to provide adequate public security, and misconduct. He urged the government to strengthen the police and Levies Force through improved training, resources, and institutional support.

Hidayat Ur Rehman further called on Pakistan to adopt policies based on national interests rather than U.S. policies, advocating stronger diplomatic relations and expanded trade with Afghanistan and Iran.

Earlier, he attended the annual gym championship organized by Meezan Fitness Gym as the chief guest. Noorullah won the Mr. Gym (Senior) title, while Nizamuddin secured the Mr. Gym (Junior) title. At the conclusion of the event, Hidayat Ur Rehman announced a personal donation of Rs50,000 to support the gym and praised its efforts to promote fitness and sports, emphasizing the need for greater government and community support for athletes and sports infrastructure.
