PkMAP Calls for Judicial Probe into Recent Violence in Balochistan, Demands Action Against Armed Groups

Quetta: The provincial executive committee of the Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party (PkMAP) has called for independent judicial investigations into recent incidents of violence in Balochistan and demanded indiscriminate action against all armed groups operating in the province.

The party made the demands during a meeting of its South Pashtunkhwa provincial executive, chaired by Provincial President Nasrullah Khan Zerey, where participants reviewed the political, organizational, and security situation in the province.

At the beginning of the meeting, participants offered condolences over the death of senior Pashtun nationalist leader and party central committee member Aziz Lala Shamozai, paying tribute to his contributions to the Pashtun national movement, democracy, and public service.

The executive expressed deep concern over the law and order situation in Balochistan, including recent attacks on vehicles along national highways. The party referred to incidents involving the killing of passengers, including women, the firing on the Al-Saif coach near Khad Kocha that resulted in fatalities, and the tragedies in Ziarat and Hanna Urak, describing them as among the most painful incidents in the province’s recent history.

PkMAP stated that these incidents reflected what it described as failures by federal and provincial authorities and relevant institutions to ensure public safety. The party alleged that, despite these events, sufficient measures had not been taken to protect citizens traveling on highways.

The meeting also paid tribute to those who lost their lives in the Ziarat and Hanna Urak incidents and praised the peaceful and constitutional struggle of victims’ families seeking justice. Participants described recent sit-ins and province-wide shutter-down strikes as important expressions of public awareness and unity, and thanked citizens, traders, lawyers, students, youth, women, and political activists for their participation.

At the conclusion of the meeting, PkMAP demanded decisive action against all militant and armed groups, including any elements allegedly operating with support or patronage. The party called for national highways to be made secure and urged the government to conduct transparent, independent, and empowered judicial inquiries into the Ziarat, Hanna Urak, and other recent incidents, with those responsible brought to justice.

The party reaffirmed its commitment to continuing democratic and constitutional efforts for lasting peace, the rule of law, and the protection of public interests in Balochistan.
