JUI-F Criticizes Balochistan Government Over Rising Highway Robberies on Quetta–Karachi Road
Quetta: Leaders of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) in Quetta have strongly criticized the Balochistan government over the increasing incidents of robbery and armed attacks on passenger vehicles along the Quetta–Karachi National Highway, calling the situation a sign of the provincial government’s failure to ensure public safety.
In a joint statement, JUI-F Quetta district leaders, including District Amir Maulana Abdul Rehman Rafiq, Secretary General Haji Ainullah Shams, Senior Vice Amir Maulana Khurshid Ahmed, and other party officials, expressed serious concern over what they described as a growing wave of highway robberies targeting public transport.
The party leaders said protecting the lives and property of citizens is the government’s primary responsibility, but alleged that the provincial administration and the Chief Minister of Balochistan had failed to provide adequate security, leaving travelers at the mercy of armed criminals.
According to the statement, passenger buses are reportedly being targeted frequently, creating fear among commuters, particularly women and children. They said many people no longer feel safe traveling on the province’s highways, resulting in widespread public anxiety and frustration.
JUI-F called on the provincial government to immediately strengthen security arrangements on the Quetta–Karachi National Highway by increasing patrols, enhancing law enforcement presence, taking strict action against those involved in highway robberies, and ensuring the safety of public transport.
The statement reflects the party’s position and demands regarding the security situation on the highway. Government authorities have not yet publicly responded to these remarks.
