14-Year-Old Malaika Khan Khilji Becomes First Woman from Balochistan to Summit Khosar Gang
QUETTA: In a proud and historic achievement for Pakistan and Balochistan, 14-year-old Malaika Khan Khilji has become the first female mountaineer from Balochistan to successfully summit Khosar Gang, one of the most challenging peaks in the Skardu region.
The milestone was achieved during the national-level Women’s Expedition 2026, in which seven talented female mountaineers from different parts of Pakistan successfully climbed the difficult peak, showcasing determination, resilience, and the growing role of women in adventure sports.
Malaika Khan Khilji, the youngest participant in the expedition, made history by becoming both the youngest climber in the team and the first woman from Balochistan to conquer Khosar Gang.
Her accomplishment has been widely hailed as a significant milestone for women’s mountaineering in the province and an inspiration for young girls across Pakistan to pursue their ambitions despite social and gender barriers.
Malaika is a regular student of the mountaineering program at the Balochistan Institute for Tourism, Hospitality and Culture Management (BITHCM). In addition to her achievements in mountaineering, she has earned numerous medals and trophies in various other sporting events.
Her historic feat is being celebrated as a symbol of courage, determination, and the rising participation of women in Pakistan’s adventure and outdoor sports.
