ANP Leader Asghar Khan Achakzai Criticizes Governance in Chaman, Links Crime to Border Trade Closure

Chaman (Khabar Daily) — Awami National Party (ANP) Balochistan President Asghar Khan Achakzai has strongly criticized what he described as worsening governance in Chaman, stating that the situation has reached alarming levels.
Addressing a district executive committee meeting, he said rulers who came into power through what he termed a “fake mandate” have failed to deliver, adding that rising lawlessness and robbery incidents in Chaman are primarily linked to the closure of trade along the Durand Line.
The meeting, chaired by District President Abdul Khaliq Haqmal, was also addressed by Dr. Abdul Samad Achakzai and Samiullah Khan.
Speakers at the event highlighted increasing street crime, unemployment, and the alleged use of substandard materials in development projects, criticizing the administration for poor performance. They also expressed concern over prolonged and unannounced power outages in both urban and rural areas, demanding immediate restoration of electricity supply.
Asghar Khan Achakzai further alleged that drug trafficking, armed groups, and extremism are operating under official patronage, claiming that such conditions are contributing to portraying the Pashtun region as a hub of crime.
During the meeting, the party decided to organize worker training conventions across different tehsils to strengthen its organizational structure. According to the schedule, conventions will be held in Sadar Tehsil on May 10, in City Tehsil on May 17, and in Tehsil Zhara Band on June 7.
The participants reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the party across the district while maintaining its ideological continuity.
