Five Convicts Sentenced to 10 Years Rigorous Imprisonment in Corruption Case
Rawalpindi: A Special Central Court in Rawalpindi has sentenced five individuals to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment each in a corruption case registered by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
According to court proceedings, the convicted individuals are Zeeshan Ali Akbar, Nazar Hussain, Ishtiaq Ahmed, Jahangir Ahmed, and Saqib Zaheer.
The Special Court (Central) awarded the sentences under various provisions of the Anti-Corruption Act, 1947, and the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). Under Section 5(2) of the Anti-Corruption Act, all five convicts were sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment.
Additionally, each convict received three years of rigorous imprisonment under Section 161 of the PPC and another three years under Section 162 of the PPC. They were also sentenced to one year of rigorous imprisonment each under Section 163 of the PPC.
The court ordered that all sentences will run concurrently and granted the convicts the benefit of Section 382-B of the Code of Criminal Procedure, allowing credit for time already spent in custody.
The court further ordered the confiscation of Rs10.475 million recovered from the accused in favor of the state. The amount had been seized from the five convicts during the investigation.
Special Judge (Central) Abdul Rehman Muhammad Arif issued warrants for the immediate transfer of all convicted individuals to Central Jail Rawalpindi to serve their sentences.
The corruption case was originally registered by the FIA’s Anti-Corruption Circle in Islamabad.
