Federal Constitutional Court Fixes Aafia Siddiqui Case for Hearing on June 16

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Constitutional Court has fixed the case of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui for hearing, along with an appeal related to contempt of court proceedings against the Prime Minister and the federal cabinet.

A two-member bench headed by Chief Justice Aminuddin Khan will hear the case on June 16.

The appeal concerns a challenge filed by the federal government against proceedings initiated over alleged non-compliance in the Aafia Siddiqui case, including contempt of court action against the Prime Minister and cabinet members.

It is worth noting that the Islamabad High Court had earlier ordered contempt proceedings over non-compliance in the case. However, the Federal Constitutional Court had subsequently suspended the contempt order issued against the Prime Minister and the cabinet.

The hearing is now set to proceed as the government’s appeal against the contempt proceedings comes under judicial review.

The case of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui has remained a high-profile legal matter for years, drawing public and political attention both domestically and internationally.

Chief Justice Aminuddin Khan will lead the bench that will hear the matter on June 16.
