Former Afghan Army Chief Alleges Taliban Support for Militants Targeting Pakistan
ISLAMABAD: Former Afghan Army Chief General Sami Sadat has alleged that the Afghan Taliban are supporting militant groups involved in attacks inside Pakistan, making a series of claims regarding cross-border militancy and regional security.
Speaking on the issue, General Sadat claimed that militants carrying out attacks in Pakistan receive full support and backing from the Afghan Taliban.
He further alleged that the Afghan Taliban maintain close ties with India and receive substantial financial assistance, which he claimed is later funneled to anti-Pakistan militant groups.
According to the former Afghan military chief, these funds are allegedly used to finance militant activities and terrorist attacks inside Pakistan. He specifically referred to groups described by Pakistani authorities as “Fitna al-Khawarij” and “Fitna al-Hindustan,” claiming they benefit from this financial support.
General Sadat also alleged that the Afghan Taliban provide logistical assistance and other forms of support to these groups for operations against Pakistan.
The Afghan Taliban and Indian authorities have not immediately responded publicly to these allegations. The claims have not been independently verified.
