Eight More Militants Killed in Joint Security Operation ‘Operation Shaban’ in Balochistan
Rawalpindi: Pakistani security forces have killed eight more suspected militants during two intelligence-based operations conducted under the ongoing Operation Shaban in Balochistan, according to security sources.
The joint operation, involving the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan, and the Balochistan Police, included both ground and aerial strikes based on intelligence reports targeting suspected militant hideouts in different parts of the province.
Security sources said five militants were killed in the first operation, while three more were killed in a second operation carried out later the same day.
According to the sources, the number of militants killed since the launch of Operation Shaban has risen to 79, while a total of 117 suspected militants have been killed in Operation Shaban and other intelligence-based operations conducted since 5 July.
Officials also stated that security forces recovered a large quantity of weapons, ammunition, and other equipment from the alleged militant hideouts.
Security authorities said operations against militant groups will continue until their networks and safe havens are dismantled, adding that both aerial and ground operations are being carried out across affected areas.
According to the official account, Operation Shaban was launched following the attack on the Mangi Dam Police Station in Ziarat district in early July 2026, in which nine police personnel were killed. The operation aims to dismantle militant networks and improve security in the region.
Separately, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the Pakistan Army, FC Balochistan, and the police for the successful operations. In a statement, he commended the professionalism of the security forces and said counterterrorism operations would continue until militant groups are eliminated from the country.
