Mustafa Kamal Claims Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui Blocked Waseem Akhtar’s Appointment as Sindh Governor
Karachi:Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader and Federal Minister **Mustafa Kamal** has once again publicly criticized party chairman **Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui**, alleging that he prevented **Waseem Akhtar** from becoming the Governor of Sindh.
Addressing a general workers’ meeting, Kamal said the party had decided to push for a complete overhaul of Pakistan’s governance model by ensuring that constitutional powers and resources are devolved directly to the people, describing the move as essential for the country’s future.
He reiterated that MQM-P believes in the supremacy of the Constitution and the rule of law, urging party workers to continue their political struggle within the legal and constitutional framework.
Kamal also criticized the Sindh government, claiming that despite receiving **Rs22 trillion** from the federal government over the past **18 years**, it had failed to provide basic civic services to Karachi, Hyderabad, and other urban areas of the province. He announced that MQM-P would launch a protest movement from **July 26** to demand the rights of Sindh’s urban population.
Speaking about internal party matters, Kamal said Waseem Akhtar’s differences were not with him but with Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui. He claimed Siddiqui had personally told him that when Waseem Akhtar sought the party’s nomination for the post of Sindh governor, a letter recommending his appointment was presented to the prime minister.
According to Kamal, after the meeting concluded, Siddiqui allegedly told the prime minister privately not to act on the recommendation contained in the letter.
Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui has not publicly responded to Mustafa Kamal’s allegations. The claims reflect Kamal’s account and have not been independently verified.
