Over 112,000 UK and Schengen Visa Applications from Pakistan Rejected in 2025

Islamabad: More than 112,000 short-term visa applications submitted by Pakistani citizens to the United Kingdom and Schengen countries were rejected during 2025, resulting in an estimated Rs. 4.56 billion in non-refundable visa fees, according to a media report.

The report stated that a total of 112,387 visa applications were refused, significantly reducing applicants’ chances of obtaining travel visas and leaving many Pakistanis with substantial financial losses.

According to the report, the United Kingdom recorded the highest number of rejections, refusing approximately 72,000 visitor visa applications from Pakistani nationals. The report said the UK’s visitor visa refusal rate for Pakistani applicants reached 44 percent during the year.

The report further stated that Schengen countries rejected an additional 40,199 visa applications, with an overall refusal rate of approximately 46 percent, making travel to Europe increasingly difficult for many Pakistani applicants.

It added that the financial losses extended beyond embassy visa fees. Many unsuccessful applicants also spent significant amounts on document preparation, certified translations, mandatory travel insurance, and visa processing services provided by agents and service providers, further increasing the overall cost despite their applications being unsuccessful.

The figures cited are based on the published report referenced in the article. Visa approval decisions are made by the respective UK and Schengen authorities according to their immigration and visa assessment procedures.
