Iran Says Strait of Hormuz Will Remain Open Only Under Its Sovereignty, Warns U.S. Against Further Attacks

Tehran:Iran’s Chief Nuclear Negotiator and Speaker of Parliament, **Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf**, has declared that the **Strait of Hormuz** will remain open only under Iran’s authority and sovereign control, rejecting what he described as U.S. threats.
Addressing the ongoing regional tensions, Ghalibaf warned the United States that **every attack on Iran would receive a response**, adding that Washington would have to “pay the price” for what he called broken promises and continued military threats.
His remarks came amid escalating hostilities between Iran and the United States following recent military strikes and growing tensions in the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, a key global energy shipping route.
The latest statement underscores Tehran’s firm stance that the security and navigation of the Strait of Hormuz will be governed by Iran’s national interests rather than external pressure.
