Pakistan Approves Four-Year Digital Hajj Policy, Registration Open Through 2030
Islamabad: Pakistan’s federal cabinet has approved a new four-year Hajj Policy and Plan for 2027–2030, introducing a fully digital Hajj management system and allowing prospective pilgrims to register in advance for any Hajj season up to 2030.
The policy was approved during a federal cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
According to an official statement, the cabinet praised Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf and his ministry’s team for their management of this year’s Hajj operations.
Officials told the cabinet that, unlike previous one-year Hajj policies, the new framework is Pakistan’s first comprehensive four-year Hajj plan. The policy aims to improve long-term planning, enhance operational efficiency, and provide better facilities and services for pilgrims.
The briefing stated that standard operating procedures (SOPs) and other regulations will be developed to implement the policy, while amendments may be introduced to ensure compliance with Saudi regulations governing Hajj.
Under the new policy, intending pilgrims will be able to register for any Hajj season through 2030, and a priority waiting list system will also be introduced.
The government also plans to launch a Shariah-compliant Hajj savings scheme, enabling citizens to save gradually for future pilgrimages.
In addition, the entire Hajj system will be digitized, including payment processing, complaint management, and monitoring. The policy also allocates quotas for both government and private Hajj schemes and introduces both long-duration and short-duration Hajj packages.
