PTI Long March Could Have Been Postponed If a Serious Person Had Spoken Instead of Mohsin Naqvi: Mohsin Baig
ISLAMABAD: Senior journalist and analyst Mohsin Baig has criticized Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi over his recent statements regarding the political system and the proposed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) long march.
Speaking during a talk show on Hum News, Baig said Naqvi was himself a product and beneficiary of the system that he was describing as failed.
Anchor Adil Nizami referred to Naqvi’s remarks about the system having collapsed and asked Baig for his response. Baig said, “Mohsin Naqvi himself is a product of this failed system and one of its biggest beneficiaries. If the system had not failed, would he have been sitting in the position he occupies today?”
Baig also criticized Naqvi’s performance, saying the interior minister should avoid making statements beyond his stature and authority.

He questioned Naqvi’s record during his tenure as chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, arguing that the condition of cricket was evident to everyone and alleging that matters had become worse rather than better.
Regarding PTI’s proposed September 27 protest and long march, Baig said that if a serious government figure had spoken to the party instead of Naqvi, PTI might have considered postponing its planned protest.
He suggested that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif should personally step forward and hold direct talks with PTI.
Baig further said that negotiations should also address possible relief or concessions concerning PTI founder Imran Khan.
