Anchorperson Claims Criminal Record of Alleged ‘Boss’ in Lahore Kidnapping Case Was Hidden from Routine ID Checks

LAHORE: Pakistani anchorperson Gharidah Farooqi has claimed that the alleged “Boss” linked to the high-profile case involving the alleged kidnapping for ransom and sexual assault of two foreign women in Lahore’s Defence area had a criminal record that was not visible through routine identity card-based background checks.
In a post on social media, Farooqi identified the suspect as Mian Waheed Tahir, alleging that his previous criminal record had been concealed in a manner that prevented it from appearing during standard identity verification. She further claimed that her team had independently obtained what she described as the suspect’s complete criminal history through its own sources.
According to Farooqi, the suspect is originally from Aziz Park in Okara, where his family still resides. She alleged that he frequently changed residences in Lahore to evade law enforcement and avoid arrest.
The anchorperson also claimed that the suspect had previously been involved in several serious criminal cases, including allegations related to illegal organ transplantation, murder, and police encounter cases, and that he had been arrested in the past.
Farooqi further alleged that during the kidnapping, the suspect threatened the two foreign women that if a ransom of US$1.5 million was not paid, he would remove and sell their organs. She linked the alleged threats to his purported past involvement in illegal organ trafficking.
Citing investigative sources, Farooqi also claimed that the physical abuse allegedly inflicted on the two women during their captivity was carried out by the suspect’s personal armed guards. She further alleged that the suspect was a habitual user of crystal meth (“ice”) and had been involved in organized criminal activities for an extended period.
The allegations made by the anchorperson have not been independently verified, and law enforcement authorities have not publicly confirmed the claims regarding the suspect’s alleged criminal history or the reported concealment of official records. Investigations into the case remain ongoing.
