Hidayat ur Rehman Baloch Calls for Political Solution to Balochistan’s Challenges

GWADAR: Hidayat ur Rehman Baloch, provincial chief of Jamaat-e-Islami in Balochistan and a member of the provincial assembly, has said that the people of Balochistan are facing severe hardships due to insecurity, unemployment, corruption, poverty, missing persons cases, and a lack of basic public services.
Speaking during meetings with various delegations, Hidayat ur Rehman said residents continue to face inadequate healthcare and education facilities, while highways remain unsafe for travelers, traders, and transport operators.
The Jamaat-e-Islami leader alleged that public representatives had been replaced by individuals brought to power through what he described as “Form 47,” claiming they do not represent the people’s mandate. He argued that this has contributed to worsening public problems.
He also said that border closures, repeated highway blockades, attacks on passenger coaches, the burning of trucks, and other security incidents have further deteriorated conditions in the province. According to him, despite official claims, security personnel, government ministers, investors, traders, and ordinary citizens do not feel fully secure.
Hidayat ur Rehman maintained that the use of force, coercion, or military operations would not resolve Balochistan’s issues. At the same time, he said attacks on public property, security forces, or transport infrastructure were also not a solution.
He called for a political approach based on dialogue, constitutional rights, justice, employment opportunities, improved education and healthcare, the restoration of border trade, and greater public participation in decision-making.
The Jamaat-e-Islami leader also described the issue of missing persons as a serious concern, saying affected families continue to seek justice. He further alleged that corruption and favoritism in public-sector recruitment have left many educated young people without employment opportunities.
He urged the federal and provincial governments to address Balochistan’s challenges through dialogue, constitutional and legal mechanisms, ensure transparency in missing persons cases, improve highway security, restore border trade, create employment opportunities for youth, and prioritize investment in the health and education sectors.
Hidayat ur Rehman said Jamaat-e-Islami would continue its peaceful and democratic struggle for public rights, justice, constitutional supremacy, and the development of Balochistan.
