Pakistan’s Law Minister Says No Political Interference if Guilt Is Proven in Lahore Case

Islamabad:Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Law and Justice, **Barrister Aqeel Malik**, has said there will be no political interference in the high-profile Lahore case involving allegations against multiple suspects if the accused are found guilty by a court of law.

Speaking during a television interview, Malik stressed that the investigation is being conducted in a fair and impartial manner and urged the public to avoid reaching conclusions before the judicial process is completed.

“The investigation is ongoing, and we should not become judge and jury before the courts have examined all the evidence,” he said.

The minister noted that the case involves several important aspects and highlighted that the First Information Report (FIR) was registered promptly, the suspects were arrested, and the complainants were recovered. He added that the complainants’ statements under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code have been recorded and medical examinations have been completed.

Malik described the allegations as serious and said authorities have followed the required legal procedures. He also expressed concern over the circulation of the complainants’ photographs and extensive online commentary about the case, urging media outlets and social media users to respect privacy and avoid prejudicing ongoing legal proceedings.

Referring to the government’s position, the law minister said Punjab Chief Minister **Maryam Nawaz** has consistently maintained that the law applies equally to everyone. He emphasized that if the court ultimately finds any individual guilty and convicts them, there can be no political intervention in the sentencing process.

Malik added that further investigative steps, including an identification parade if required, would be carried out in accordance with the law. He declined to speculate on the outcome of the case, stating that it would be inappropriate to draw conclusions while the investigation is still underway.
