KP Information Minister Criticizes Punjab Government Over Public Services and Recent Tragedies

Islamabad:Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Shafi Jan has criticized the Punjab government over its handling of public services and recent incidents, including a fatal roof collapse at a tuition center.

Speaking on a television program, Shafi Jan said that if a similar tragedy had occurred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, his own provincial government would have accepted responsibility. He argued that authorities should ensure regular inspections of commercial buildings to help prevent such incidents and expressed condolences to the families of the victims.

The minister also claimed that a worker employed under the “Suthra Punjab” sanitation program died by suicide after allegedly not receiving his salary, and criticized the provincial administration over broader governance issues. He further referred to reports of financial hardship among citizens and questioned government spending priorities.

Shafi Jan also took aim at Punjab’s Information Minister, Marriyum Aurangzeb, criticizing remarks she made about the government’s purchase of an aircraft and arguing that public funds should be used with greater accountability.

During the discussion, journalist Imran Shafqat raised concerns about previous infrastructure-related incidents, calling for stronger local government systems and improved enforcement of building safety regulations.
