Karachi: The government has made a significant decision for individuals wishing to purchase used cars.
Federal Minister for Industries and Production, Rana Tanveer, expressed his delight at a recent auto expo while addressing the media. He acknowledged the vendors present, noting their contributions to both local and export markets.
Minister Tanveer stated that the government has decided to gradually impose a ban on used car imports, citing that the influx of used imported vehicles has harmed the local industry. He mentioned that the policy regarding the import of old vehicles had been misused, resulting in the loss of millions of dollars in foreign exchange.
He also pointed out that local car manufacturers have failed to fulfill their commitments to the government. Tanveer announced that an electric vehicle policy will be introduced in November, emphasizing that electric cars should not only be manufactured in Pakistan but also exported.
