PkMAP Says Government Has Failed to Protect Citizens, Expresses Solidarity with Hanna Urak Protesters

QUETTA: Leaders of the Pakhtunkhwa National Awami Party (PkMAP) visited the ongoing protest sit-in in Hanna Urak on Monday, expressing solidarity with local residents and criticizing the government for what they described as its failure to ensure public safety and maintain law and order.

The party delegation included Central Finance Secretary Muhammad Yousaf Khan Kakar, Provincial President Nasrullah Khan Ziaray, District Finance Secretary Bacha Khan Kakar, Hanna Urak Regional Secretary Hidayat Afghan, Senior Assistant Secretary Malik Nasir Khan, and other senior leaders and workers.

The visit followed an armed attack in the Killi Babri area of Hanna Urak on Sunday night, where unidentified armed groups reportedly opened heavy fire. In response, thousands of residents gathered at Hanna Urak Chowk to stage a protest sit-in, demanding improved security and action against those responsible.

Addressing the protesters, PkMAP Provincial President Nasrullah Khan Ziaray said the entire province, particularly the southern Pashtun belt, was facing a severe law and order crisis. He claimed that people were no longer safe in terms of their lives, property, dignity, and basic rights.

He alleged that armed groups, extortionists, criminal networks, and militant organizations had intensified their activities in Quetta and other parts of southern Balochistan, resulting in frequent incidents of terrorism, targeted killings, kidnappings for ransom, extortion, and armed attacks. He further claimed that the provincial government and relevant state institutions had failed to provide adequate protection to the public.

Nasrullah Khan Ziaray said a government that cannot safeguard the lives and property of its citizens fails to fulfill its constitutional, legal, and moral responsibilities. He urged the authorities to take immediate, decisive, and comprehensive action against armed groups, militants, and criminal networks to restore peace and ensure public security.

He also stated that the people of Hanna Urak are the rightful owners of their land, natural resources, water, and mineral wealth, adding that any compromise on their constitutional, legal, and national rights would be unacceptable.

The PkMAP leader reaffirmed his party’s commitment to continuing its struggle for the protection of the people’s political, economic, democratic, and national rights, as well as for lasting peace in the province.

The party leaders concluded by expressing full solidarity with the residents of Hanna Urak and demanded the immediate arrest of those involved in the Killi Babri attack, calling on the government to take urgent practical measures to establish lasting peace and stability in the area.
