Monsoon Rains Expected Across Pakistan From July 1, PMD Issues Weather Advisory

Islamabad: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast widespread monsoon rainfall across the country during the first week of July, with heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds expected in several regions.
According to the PMD, a westerly weather system is likely to enter Pakistan on the evening or night of June 30, while moist currents from the Arabian Sea are already penetrating the eastern and central parts of the country. Additional moisture from the Bay of Bengal is expected to reach the upper regions from July 2.
The weather department has forecast windstorms and thunderstorms with rain in Azad Jammu and Kashmir from July 1 to 6, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is expected to receive similar weather conditions between July 1 and 5.
In Sindh, thunderstorms and rainfall are likely in Sukkur, Jacobabad, Larkana, and adjoining districts on July 3 and 4.
For Balochistan, rain is expected in the northern and northeastern districts from July 1 to 4, while various parts of Punjab are likely to experience thunderstorms and rainfall from July 1 to 6.
The PMD has also predicted rainfall in Gilgit-Baltistan between July 1 and 5.
The department has warned of a risk of landslides in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree, Galliyat, and Kashmir from July 2 to 6.
In addition, urban flooding is expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Gujranwala, Lahore, and Faisalabad between July 1 and 4 due to heavy rainfall.
The PMD has advised the public and relevant authorities to remain vigilant and take necessary precautionary measures in areas vulnerable to flooding and landslides during the upcoming monsoon spell.
