Heavy Gunfire, Explosion Reported Near Gulistan-e-Jauhar in Karachi; Authorities Launch Investigation

KARACHI: Heavy gunfire and the sound of an explosion were reported near Block 6 of Gulistan-e-Jauhar in Karachi on Saturday, prompting a swift response from police and other law enforcement agencies.

According to police, security personnel were immediately dispatched to the area after reports of the incident. The circumstances surrounding the gunfire and the reported explosion were not immediately clear.

As a precaution, authorities closed the road leading from Mosamiyat to Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block 6 and Kamran Chowrangi to traffic. The road connecting Mosamiyat to Iqbal Chaman Colony was also sealed to facilitate the security operation.

Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah took notice of the incident and contacted the Inspector General (IG) of Sindh Police and the Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Karachi, directing them to submit a detailed report.

Sindh Home Minister Zia Lanjar also sought an immediate briefing from the Additional IG Karachi and instructed officials to provide complete details of the incident as soon as possible.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the nature of the explosion or reported any casualties, while investigations into the incident are ongoing.
