Actress Momina Iqbal Speaks Out on Alleged Harassment as Cybercrime Case Moves Forward

LAHORE:Pakistani actress Momina Iqbal has issued an emotional statement on social media regarding alleged harassment, blackmail, and character assassination, saying she has been pushed to the limits of emotional distress.
In a series of Instagram stories, the actress described facing prolonged mental strain due to what she termed false allegations and a sustained campaign to defame her. She said the situation had become overwhelming, prompting her to speak publicly after years of silence.
Momina Iqbal stated that she initially refrained from naming individuals despite advice from others, but decided to share her experience to warn other women and prevent similar incidents. She emphasized the importance of accountability and said she does not want others to face what she has endured.
In another post, she expressed deep frustration over ongoing legal and social pressure, saying she has been struggling to prove her position while dealing with continuous stress. She also shared that the situation had taken a severe emotional toll on her.
It is worth noting that the actress has pursued legal action regarding the matter. She has approached the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), alleging online harassment and threats.
According to reports, she has named a provincial assembly member in her complaint, accusing him of harassment and intimidation. Following submission of digital evidence, authorities registered a case under relevant provisions of the PECA Act along with sections of the Pakistan Penal Code, including charges related to threats, evidence tampering, and abetment.
A local court has granted interim pre-arrest bail to the accused, restraining authorities from making an arrest until a specified date. The case remains under investigation.
Momina Iqbal has expressed concern over the legal process, stating that individuals she believes are responsible for harassment continue to pose risks despite court proceedings.
Authorities have not issued further public comments as the investigation continues.
