Doctors of Makran, Loralai & Jhalawan Medical Colleges Deprived of Salaries for One Year, PMA Raises Alarm

Turbat – The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Kech has expressed deep concern over the non-payment of salaries to doctors and faculty members of Makran Medical College Turbat, Loralai Medical College, and Jhalawan Medical College since June 2024, urging the Balochistan government and health authorities to take immediate and effective action.
In a statement issued by the PMA Kech spokesperson, it was said that doctors and teaching staff working in these medical colleges have been without salaries for more than a year, reflecting poor planning, administrative failure, and an irresponsible attitude on the part of the provincial Health Department.
The statement highlighted that while the government continues to claim improvements in the health and medical education sectors, the very professionals responsible for these institutions are being deprived of their basic financial rights.
Due to the prolonged non-payment of salaries, affected doctors and faculty members are facing severe financial hardship, mental stress, and professional uncertainty. Many are struggling to meet household expenses, children’s education costs, rent, and daily necessities, which is also negatively impacting medical education and healthcare services.
The PMA further noted that the provincial cabinet had already issued clear directives for the payment of pending salaries, but the Health Department has failed to implement these orders, reflecting serious administrative negligence and violation of employees’ legal rights.
The association emphasized that a permanent solution is required, including not only the payment of outstanding dues but also the regularization of doctors and teachers working in these medical colleges. It said job security would ensure continuity in medical education and improve institutional performance.
PMA Kech warned that if the issue is not resolved promptly, doctors and faculty members may be forced to launch a strong protest movement, which could severely affect medical education and healthcare services in the province. It said the responsibility for any such disruption would lie with the Health Department and concerned authorities.
The association urged the Chief Secretary Balochistan, Secretary Health, and other officials to immediately address the matter on humanitarian and merit grounds to prevent further deterioration in the situation and restore stability in the medical education sector.
