Saudi Arabia and Uruguay Play Out 1-1 Draw in FIFA World Cup 2026

MIAMI: Saudi Arabia and Uruguay shared the points after a 1-1 draw in their Group H clash at the FIFA World Cup 2026 in Miami.

Uruguay avoided defeat thanks to a crucial goal from Maximiliano in the 80th minute, canceling out Saudi Arabia’s earlier lead.

Saudi Arabia appeared the more energetic side in the first half, registering five shots, three of which were on target. Their persistent attacking efforts paid off in the 41st minute when Abdulilah Al-Amri found the back of the net to put his team ahead.

Uruguay also created opportunities before the break, taking five shots and testing the goalkeeper on several occasions, but they were unable to find an equalizer before halftime.

The South American side dominated possession in the second half, controlling 65 percent of the ball and applying sustained pressure on the Saudi defense. Uruguay finished the match with 27 shots, including 10 on target, but Saudi Arabia’s defensive unit held firm for much of the contest.

Uruguay completed 584 passes with an impressive 92 percent passing accuracy, reflecting their dominance in midfield and overall control of the game.

Saudi Arabia, meanwhile, struggled to maintain possession in the second half and spent long periods under pressure. The team completed 313 passes and recorded a passing accuracy of 35 percent.

Both teams pushed for a winning goal in the closing stages to strengthen their chances of reaching the knockout rounds, but neither side could find a breakthrough, and the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
