Hina Parvez Butt Criticizes Reported Plans for Drama on Alleged Drug Dealer Pinky

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hina Parvez Butt has opposed reported plans to produce a television drama based on the life of alleged drug dealer Pinky, arguing that such individuals should not be portrayed as role models.

In a statement posted on social media, Hina Parvez Butt said that Pinky is not a figure whose life should be dramatized for public entertainment. She maintained that presenting individuals associated with crime or drug trafficking as central characters in television productions sends the wrong message to society.

The PML-N leader said that criminals should not be portrayed as heroes or personalities worthy of admiration. According to her, the media and entertainment industry have a responsibility to highlight people who make positive contributions to society and can serve as examples for younger generations.

Hina Parvez Butt further stated that the dignity of respectable and accomplished women should be protected, while women making meaningful contributions in various fields deserve greater recognition and visibility.

She expressed concern that the promotion of controversial or negative figures for the sake of ratings and financial gain could encourage harmful social trends. She urged the media industry to reconsider its priorities and avoid content that provides undue publicity to individuals allegedly involved in criminal activities.

Calling for an end to what she described as a growing trend of turning controversial figures into role models, Hina Parvez Butt said any attempt to produce a drama based on Pinky should be discouraged. She emphasized that society needs the promotion of positive values and constructive role models rather than the glorification of people linked to wrongdoing.

It is worth noting that reports regarding a drama based on Pinky remain unconfirmed, and no official production announcement has been publicly verified.
