Jet Fuel Prices Slashed in Pakistan, Air Travel Expected to Become Cheaper

ISLAMABAD: The government of Pakistan has announced a significant reduction in jet fuel prices, paving the way for possible relief in air travel fares across the country.

According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division, the price of jet fuel has been reduced by Rs. 111.44 per litre. Following the cut, the new price of jet fuel has been set at Rs. 330.22 per litre.

Aviation sources say the reduction is expected to lower operational costs for airlines, which may result in decreased fares for both domestic and international flights. Industry experts have termed the move a positive development for the aviation sector.

Officials noted that jet fuel prices had previously surged due to tensions in the Middle East. On May 9, 2026, prices were increased by Rs. 53.11 per litre, reaching Rs. 441.66 per litre.

Despite the latest reduction, airline representatives stated that current fuel prices remain higher compared to earlier levels. Before the regional tensions, jet fuel was priced at approximately Rs. 188 per litre.

The Petroleum Division stated that the adjustment is part of ongoing efforts to reflect international oil market trends.

Earlier, the government also announced a Rs. 5.50 per litre cut in petrol and high-speed diesel prices, offering further relief to consumers.

The announcement was made in Islamabad.
