Kantani Border Firing Incident Is a Serious Violation of Human Rights: Mir Hasil Kalmati

Gwadar (Daily Qudrat Quetta): Former provincial minister Mir Hasil Kalmati, along with party leaders Majid Sohrabi, Kehda Ali, Arifa Abdullah and others, held an emergency press conference at the Gwadar Press Club strongly condemning the alleged firing incident at Kantani Border.
He stated that the reported firing by Pakistan Coast Guards, which resulted in the deaths of two innocent people and injuries to several others, is an unjustified use of force and a serious violation of human rights that has created widespread unrest in the district.
Mir Hasil Kalmati said that the Kantani Hor area is not just geography for local people but their only source of livelihood, where communities have been engaged in cross-border trade for generations.
He also criticized the current MPA Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman, saying that those who turned border trade into a political slogan have worsened the situation during their tenure.
The former minister demanded a transparent inquiry into the incident and called for justice and compensation for the families of the deceased. He warned that otherwise the Balochistan National Party would be compelled to launch protests.
He further urged the government and relevant institutions to formulate a clear and sustainable policy on border trade in consultation with local stakeholders to end the economic exploitation of the people.
