Russia Steps In to Help Pakistan Reduce Dependence on Western Insulin Supply: $80 Million Production Project Planned

Lahore – Efforts to reduce Pakistan’s dependence on Western countries for insulin supply have gained momentum as Russia has stepped in to assist in establishing local production.
According to details, significant progress has been made in improving trade and economic relations between Pakistan and Russia. Russian state media has also confirmed the strengthening economic ties between the two countries.

Citing the Russian news agency Sputnik, Russia is helping Pakistan reduce its reliance on Western insulin imports. A Russian pharmaceutical company Medsintez, in collaboration with its Pakistani partner, is preparing to launch an insulin production project worth $80 million.
The project will include biotechnology transfer, local Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) manufacturing, and aseptic filling facilities.
The first phase of the project is expected to be completed by 2028, while full-scale production is targeted for 2031. The initiative follows Pakistan’s approval of multiple Russian insulin products for the local market.
This agreement comes at a time when Russia has also opened its market for Pakistani seafood exports, signaling a growing economic partnership between Russian Federation and Pakistan within the Eurasian region.
