Government Collects Over Rs 1.2 Trillion in Petroleum Levy from Consumers in Nine Months

ISLAMABAD: The government has collected more than Rs 1.2 trillion from consumers in petroleum levy over the past nine months, according to official documents.
The records reveal that a total of Rs 1,205.18 billion was collected under the petroleum products levy during this period. In addition, an extra Rs 35 billion was also collected from consumers under the Climate Support Levy.
Monthly breakdown shows that Rs 145 billion was collected in July 2025, followed by Rs 115 billion in August. In September, the collection stood at Rs 111 billion, while in October it rose to Rs 145 billion.
In November 2025, consumers paid Rs 151 billion, whereas Rs 157 billion was collected in December under the same head. In January 2026, the petroleum levy stood at Rs 124 billion.
Further figures show that Rs 120 billion was collected in February and Rs 137 billion in March 2026, reflecting a consistent high level of revenue generation through petroleum levies.
The significant rise in collections highlights the government’s increasing reliance on fuel-related taxes as a major source of revenue.
