Sindh Assembly Marks “Historic Day,” Pays Tribute to Armed Forces and Martyrs

Karachi: The Sindh Assembly session began on Monday under the chairmanship of Speaker Owais Qadir Shah, where lawmakers paid tribute to the martyrs of the Pakistan Armed Forces through a Fateha ceremony at the start of proceedings.
During the session, a resolution in support of “Marka-e-Haq” was presented by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, who also sought permission from the House to suspend routine business in order to table the resolution.
Addressing the assembly, Murad Ali Shah said the House pays rich tribute to the Pakistan Army and honors the sacrifices of martyrs. He also praised the President, Prime Minister, and the Chief of Army Staff for their roles in national security.
The Chief Minister said that “today is a historic day,” adding that one year ago the entire nation stood united to give a strong response to the enemy. He said the armed forces, government, people, and media all played a collective role in defending the country.
Referring to historical events, Murad Ali Shah recalled that in 1947, India had claimed that Pakistan would not survive for long. He also mentioned that on January 20, 1972, then Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto initiated steps toward making Pakistan a nuclear power by consulting political leaders.
He further highlighted that in May 1998, Pakistan conducted nuclear tests, becoming the first Muslim nuclear power in the world.
The resolution was later supported in the House, while members echoed sentiments of tribute to the armed forces and national unity.
