Security Forces Foil Infiltration Attempt by Over 100 Militants in Hangu

Hangu: Security forces, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), Frontier Corps, and the Pakistan Army, successfully foiled an infiltration attempt by more than 100 militants in Hangu, officials said.
According to the Director Public Relations of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, the operation began on Monday after militants attempted to enter Hangu’s Zargari, Shinawari, and Naryab areas from the mountainous regions of Orakzai District.
The statement said the militants also tried to besiege several border security posts, but timely action by police, CTD, FC, and army personnel thwarted their plans.
Officials stated that the militants suffered heavy losses during the three-day clashes. Local residents reported that the attackers fled the area carrying their dead and injured companions.
During the operation, mortar shells fired by the militants also landed in civilian areas, resulting in the deaths of six civilians and injuries to 13 others.
Security agencies claimed that public properties, schools, and nearby mountainous areas had been fully cleared following the operation.
Zulfiqar Hameed praised the police and security personnel for the successful operation, saying officers who risk their lives to protect citizens are the pride of the nation.
He also announced cash rewards and commendation certificates for personnel of Hangu Police, CTD, Elite Force, and Al-Barq Force who participated in the operation.
The IGP stated that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police is fully capable of eliminating militant threats and will spare no sacrifice to protect the lives and property of the public.
