Pakistan Raises Concerns Over India’s Dangerous Naval Expansion at UN

United Nations – Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar, expressed serious concerns over India’s escalating naval preparations and its pursuit of regional dominance during a debate at the UN Security Council.

Ambassador Iftikhar emphasized that it is alarming that a major power like India is aiming for unrestricted regional supremacy, engaging in naval expansionism and attempting to dominate crucial maritime routes.

He also highlighted that neighboring countries are being excluded from regional maritime security frameworks, specifically the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA), which is a matter of great concern for regional stability.

Furthermore, Ambassador Iftikhar pointed out India’s concerning approach of weaponizing rivers, which he described as a blatant violation of international treaties and agreements.

The statement raises questions about the implications of India’s growing military presence in the region, particularly in terms of its potential impact on the security and stability of neighboring countries.
