Shehla Qureshi Becomes First Woman Appointed Second-in-Command of Balochistan Constabulary

Quetta: In a historic development for the security and policing sector in Balochistan, a female officer has been appointed as Second-in-Command (2IC) of the Balochistan Constabulary for the first time in the force’s history.
Shehla Qureshi, a Grade-19 officer of the Pakistan Police Service, has been appointed as Acting Deputy Commandant of the Balochistan Constabulary.
According to the official notification, the appointment reflects growing confidence in the professional capabilities of women officers within law enforcement institutions in the province.
The Balochistan Constabulary plays a key role in maintaining law and order, protecting sensitive installations, and assisting during emergency situations across the province. In her new role, Shehla Qureshi will oversee important administrative and operational responsibilities.
Security experts and members of the public have welcomed the appointment, describing it as a positive step toward encouraging women in law enforcement and inspiring more female officers to take on senior leadership positions in the future.
